Cognitive engagement is where true learning lives. In this session, participants will distinguish between activity and mental investment, and explore why rigor without relevance falls flat. Educators will learn to design tasks that encourage curiosity, strategy, and productive struggle, helping students build stamina for complex thinking. When students are cognitively engaged, they’re not just completing tasks—they’re driving the learning themselves.
Part of the “Engagement to Agency” series, this session builds Tier 1 capacity by shifting effort, ownership, and outcomes toward the learner.
