The Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum I Online encompasses 16 weeks of instruction, including 45 hours of lecture and a 9 lesson practicum. The course focuses on the phonology, orthography and structure of the English language; takes a comprehensive look at how students learn to read and write; and helps teachers to recognize the characteristics of dyslexia. What makes Hamilton County ESC’s program unique is the practicum: each participant is assigned to a Master Teacher who provides one-to-one coaching and feedback on the creation and teaching of 9 lesson plans custom-tailored for the student the participant is tutoring during the course. Using the Sibme platform, participants upload their lessons and videos of their instruction, enabling instructors to give specific feedback at point of need on both planning and implementation of OG methodology.

Grounded in the blended learning framework from Elevating Educational Design with AI by Dr. Catlin Tucker and Dr. Katie Novak, this interactive, full-day professional development workshop redefines what differentiation looks like for advanced minds.

Participants will explore how to combine the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and blended instruction with cutting-edge AI tools. Rather than simply giving fast-finishers “more work,” this workshop empowers educators to use AI as a strategic thought partner to elevate Depth of Knowledge (DOK), design parallel horizontal learning pathways, and foster deep student agency.

Throughout this full-day experience, teachers will collaborate with peers, test practical “plug-and-play” AI prompt templates in real time, and build high-rigor learning experiences directly applicable to their own classrooms.
