Quiet: The Power of Gifted Introverts, Part 1 – 12/8/2022

Studies report that up to 75% of the highly gifted are introverts. Join Dr. Nicole Dietrich in this two part series, to explore the curious link between introversion and giftedness and the unique challenges that students who are both gifted and introverted may face.


In this hybrid HQPD option participants will receive up to 15 gifted HQPD hours.


Part 1 (5 hours): How well do you know your “verts”? Introversion and extroversion are not just behavioral. These temperaments impact how a child processes energy, renews at the end of the day, interacts with the world and even learns! You probably already know the gifted extroverts in your classroom and what makes them thrive! Dive into this session to learn how to make your class cozy for gifted introverts!


Part 2 (10 hours): Want to take a deeper dive? An additional 10 hours can be earned virtually through participating in an asynchronous, individually paced, online podcast study and discussion board. Quiet: The Power of Introverts with Susan Cain is a podcast where the voices of quiet kids are heard. Hosted and produced by Susan Cain and their partner Panoply, the podcast focuses on giving parents and educators the tools to empower quiet kids. Expect to learn about how caregivers and schools can better understand and support introverts, how the changing landscape of social media impacts quiet children, the neuroscience of introversion, and more. You’ll also hear sound advice from Susan and experts in education and parenting.
