Even before the pandemic upended education, teachers have voiced concerns about not having sufficient time to teach the ELA standards effectively. With an emphasis on reading comprehension, time has been taken away from writing and other important literacy skills. Teachers often wonder – how can I teach it all? And how can I teach it all WELL?
By focusing on priority or “power” standards, teachers can create a framework for curriculum that (supports) all four strands of the ELA standards without sacrificing depth of learning.
In this workshop participants will explore the standards that give instruction the most “bang for the buck.” Referenced by The Council of Chief State School Officers as well as ODE, Achieve the Core’s Priority Instructional Standards guidance provides support as educators plan instruction to target the critical skills students need to master the ELA Standards.
