HCESC - What We Do

Rating Slips in High-Performing District and Administrators Wanted to Know Why
A high-performing areas school district recently saw its Report Designation slip because it did not meet its Value-Added goal.  District officials were quite concerned and needed to know WHY it slipped – AND how to address the issue.  A two-person team of HCESC colleagues contacted ODE to gather additional information and insight.  Then, the HCESC team analyzed the district data line by line and discovered some interesting patterns.  The team will be working with district administrators and teachers throughout the year to address the issues they uncovered. To learn more about how HCESC can help you gain more insight about your data, contact Bill Sears at (513) 674-4207 or Bill.Sears@hcesc.org.

District Wants to Differentiate Instruction in Mathematics – One Size Does NOT Fit All!
An area district recognizes that ‘one size does NOT fit all.’  It has called upon HCESC to provide professional development and individualized coaching to assist its administrators and teachers in implementing a Response to Intervention (RtI) three-tiered approach throughout its math department.   To learn more about how an RtI approach can help your building or school differentiate instruction, contact Kathy Sturges at (513) 674-4322 or Kathy.Sturges@hcesc.org.

District Needs to Strengthen Instruction and Assessment K-12; HCESC Team On-Site
An area school district knew it needed to help its teachers strengthen their understanding of state standards, effective instructional practices, and short-cycle assessments.  A team from HCESC consultants will be providing over a 100 days of customized service to the district this year – job-embedded coaching, working with teachers to design short-cycle assessments, supporting principals during classroom visits and follow-up coaching, and more.  To learn more about how HCESC services can be customized to meet the specific needs of your district or school, contact Bill Sears, at (513) 674-4207 or Bill.Sears@hcesc.org.

District Opening New Technology-Rich Buildings Needs Tech and Network Support as well as PD in 21st Century Instruction
A local school district is opening several new school buildings complete with state-of-the-art technology for its students and teachers.  The superintendent called on HCESC to provide insight, experience, and support during the ‘build’ phase as well as ongoing network support throughout the year.  A team from HCESC has been onsite since August and will be there regularly throughout the school year.
Further, HCESC consultants will be working with staff to make best use of that technology for instruction and assessment.  To learn more about HCESC onsite technology-related services and helping teachers use technology for instruction, contact Renita Heideman at (513) 674-4312 or Renita.Heideman@hcesc.org.

Community School Doesn’t Need ‘Whole Person’ – Just Part-Time Help in Nursing and Psych
A local Community School needs help to provide Nursing Services and Psychologist Services to its students, but it does NOT need the services of full-time people.  HCESC is able to meet their need for part-time support because we are able to use that Nurse and Psychologist in other schools with a similar need for part-time support.  To learn more about HCESC can provide part-time (or full-time) support in nursing, psychologists, physical therapy, and many other areas, contact Sally Demmler at (513) 674-4270 or Sally.Demmler@hcesc.org.
